これに対し、Thunderbird開発のリーダー格のScottさんは、これら提案の一つ一つにコメントをして、最後にこういっています。

□Thoughts On Thunderbird ≫ Finding a New Home For Thunderbird
We believe, creating a separate independent company focused on the Thunderbird mission is the best way for us to take care of our users, while having the most flexibility to grow and support our mission.
我々の使命を推し進め、そしてそれをサポートするための最大限の柔軟性を保持する限り、Thunderbirdの使命に焦点を絞った、（Mozilla Fondationとは別の）切り離された独立の会社をつくることが、我々にとって、ユーザーのフォローをするのに最善の方法であると確信している。
Our vision is to create an independent company responsible for developing future versions of Thunderbird, supporting our users, and providing choice and innovation in the mail space. This company would embody the same principles that make Mozilla great: dedication to open source, transparency, community involvement, and doing right by our users.
我々のビジョンは、Thunderbirdの将来のバージョンを開発する責任、ユーザーをサポートする責任、メールの世界において、選択肢と革新性を提供する責任を持った独立した会社を作ることだ。
この会社は、MozillaをMozillaたらしめている原則−オープンソースにこだわり続けること、透明性が高いこと、コミュニティーとの関わりを持っていること、ユーザーが正しいと思うことをすること−その原則と同じ原則を体現するであろう（すべきである）。
では、現実問題として、その主な問題である金銭面をどうするかが次の問題となってくるのですが、この点については、Scottさんは、

(3)other partnerships that support the Thunderbird mission

(2)いくつかのメール業務をサポートすることによる収益
(3)Thunderbirdの使命を理解しサポートする他のパートナーによる協力
